NEWTOWN BOROUGH >> Bucks County moms should check out Newtown’s newest retail addition, Luxey Little Ones, an all-in-one baby and children’s boutique now open at 9 North State Street.

Located in the heart of Newtown, the new store offers parents with discerning taste access to the most sought-after products and nursery design services for their little ones, according to owner Jennifer Poe of Upper Makefield, who also owns the highly successful Rittenhouse Home located just a few doors down.

“Parents in the burbs and beyond can now shop for designer baby and kids brands at direct to market prices and design their dream nursery, all under one roof,” said Poe, who personally sources each piece in her showroom, from the most trusted, parent-loved baby brands on the market.

Poe said when she was expecting her fourth child, she quickly realized that big box baby stores were falling flat, often lacking the unique pieces and flair she envisioned for her dream nursery. With her acumen for business and eye for design, Luxey Little Ones was born.

“Luxey Little Ones, like Rittenhouse Home, developed out of my own lifestyle … I found it pretty impossible to shop for [my son] around this area,” she said. “So, like Rittenhouse Home, I wanted to bring the best of what’s out there for baby and child to Newtown as well as for myself,” said Poe.

“I don’t see why Newtown needs to shop an hour away to buy baby gear, clothing, furniture, etc.,” Poe continued, noting that you’d have to travel to Philadelphia, King of Prussia or Northern New Jersey to find the same brands now available at her new store in Bucks County.

“Big box stores are where you go now,” she said. “But being a small business owner I like the boutique experience and I wanted to bring that to my customers. I like that one-on-one relationship with my customers and my clients. We can talk stroller talk and mom talk. I appreciate that myself in a shopping experience and I wanted to bring that idea here.”

The shop carries everything from sheik and stylish designer diaper bags by Rebecca Minkoff to the most coveted furniture pieces, baby gear, strollers and accessories sold on the market by companies like Mima, Nuna, Petit Lem, Appaman, Halabaloo, 4moms, Kissy Kissy, 7 A.M. enfant and more.

“We have some really great lines,” said Poe, including Smart Stuff, a line of kid-friendly furniture, and Nuna, which makes the Pipa, the lightest infant carrier on the market weighing in at just seven and a half pounds. “For moms like me who are tired and running all day long with their children, they don’t need a work out from the carrier.”

The store also carries Bugaboo strollers, which Poe counts among her favorites. “They are really functional and lightweight.” And they carry the super-stylish line of Mutsy strollers, offering high functionality, durability and quality fabrics.

“I also have some great holiday gear for girls and little guys, too,” said Poe. “And we have some great bedding. I’ll also be bringing to Newtown later this year my own private line of bedding that I’ve designed,” she said.

Among her favorite products is the mamaROO, a baby seat sold by 4Moms which she bought for her own son. “It has seven different modes, including one called the car ride. It moves side to side, front to back, up and down. And it mimics real rocking movement. You can hook your iPhone to it and play music.”

The store also sells “The Leaf,” a baby swing by Nuna. “It works on motion so the baby’s weight moves the chair like a leaf,” she said.

Among many other items, moms can also find an assortment of picture frames; stroller blankets; burpy bibs; bath and body treatments for infants by Noodle and Boo; handmade baby tutus, leggings and t-shirts by Oh Baby!; adorable leather moccasins by Freshly Picked; super sheik and stylish gliders by Monte Design; a black and white furniture ensemble by Newport Cottages; boys jeans, shirts and trousers; and lots more.

“Come on in and see the latest in baby gear and attire,” encourages Poe. “I have a great staff along with myself who can help them with all their needs. New moms who are not in the loop on things, I’m happy to chat with them and fill them in on what’s new and what they’ll need. Being a mom of four, I’m pretty up on the trends and what’s out there.”

The store’s clothing and gear are for newborn to age six, although Poe said the business offers great Tween and Teen furniture as well. “In that respect, there is no age limit,” she said.

“We’re also going to have a registry option so expectant moms can come in and register for all their baby needs and we’ll take care of the rest for them,” said Poe.

In addition to the retail items, customers can work directly with Poe and her designed team to create a one-of-a-kind, dream nursery reflecting Jennifer’s signature and personal style.

“Just like Rittenhouse Home, we can bring design services to you and create nursery spaces and children’s rooms,” she said. “We are very design driven.”

A graduate of the prestigious Art Institute of Philadelphia, Poe has been working her design magic for the past seven years inside homes throughout Bucks County, providing her clients with “fresh designs,” whether they are renovating, enhancing or purchasing a new home.

She started out in Princeton before making the jump back across the river to Upper Makefield, Newtown and Yardley where much of her work has been concentrated. In 2014, she opened Rittenhouse Home, a showroom for her home design business, at 15-17 North State Street.

“I myself would find myself traveling to Philadelphia and New York to view the trends that I would bring to my clients,” said Poe. “I just thought, why not bring some style and sophistication right here in Newtown? I think it is needed.”
