MORRISVILLE BOROUGH >> Holy Trinity School opened Holy Week on Palm Sunday with a moving performance of the life, passion, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Students in grades one, and five to eight staged the Passion Play at the church, 201 North Pennsylvania Avenue in Morrisville Borough, beginning with Jesus’ triumphant Palm Sunday arrival in Jerusalem and culminating with his Good Friday crucifixion and his Easter morning Resurrection.
The play was punctuated by the events of Holy Week - the Last Supper, the betrayal by Judas, Peter’s denial, Pontius Pilot washing his hands of the matter, the Way of the Cross - and accompanied by music from Godspell and Jesus Christ Superstar.
Live song, dance and narration were featured as a cast and crew of more than 100 students gave an inspirational performance that truly prepared the audience for Holy Week and Easter.
Leading the cast are Joseph Loeffler as Jesus; James Beltle (voice of Jesus); Arianna Cucarese (Mary); Natalie Wright (Mary Magdalene); George Lobis (Judas); Matthew Gorman (John the Beloved); Kyle Tuthill (Thomas); Dominicio Cucarese (James the Greater); Justin Jean (James the Lesser); Jack Glasson (Simon Peter); Patrick Brelsford (Simon the Zealot); Tate Martin (Bartholomew); Sammy Rodriguez (Andrew); Eric Jean (Thaddeus); Patryk Oszer (Phillip); Andrew Haney (Matthew); Emma Buchko (narrator one); and Carmella Mooney (narrator two).
