Wrightstown Meeting began revitalizing its public outreach efforts early in the year, featuring Musical Coffeehouses on seasonal weekends and Conversations for Confusing Times on mostly-monthly weeknights.

“We’ve enjoyed welcoming our neighbors and giving them a chance to get to know our facilities, activities and members,” said Jeff Cogshall, Assistant Clerk of Outreach. “We’ve been really pleased with the response.”

Talented musicians have played folk, rock and even some children’s music at previous events, and sometimes the audience joins in for singing. “Last summer’s outdoor Coffeehouse was great fun,” said Tim Saxon, a visitor and performer from Swarthmore. “The music was great, and it was nice to meet new people in a relaxed family setting.” Poets have also been welcomed to share the mic.

Committee members are looking forward to the upcoming low-key winter Coffeehouse in the more intimate Meeting library. “This setting will be perfect for a cozy acoustic evening as winter begins to set in,” said Michelle Hunter, clerk of the Outreach Committee.

Free parking is available on site at the smoke-and-drug free WFM campus at 535 Durham Road, Newtown. Unfortunately, the library venue is not accessible to those using walkers or wheelchairs.
