The Celtic Cross on the riverfront in Bristol Borough

BRISTOL BOROUGH >> The 23rd Annual Celtic Day Celebration will be held at Bristol Riverfront Park on Sunday, June 30 (no rain date) from 1 to 8 p.m. The event is sponsored by the Celtic Heritage Foundation. Admission is free.

Attendees are advised to bring lawn chairs or blankets. Various musical and dance groups will entertain throughout the event. A variety of food and merchandise vendors will be situated throughout the park and the Celtic Heritage Foundation will have a “Celtic Bakery” under the wharf.

This year’s entertainment schedule includes opening ceremonies at the gazebo from 1 to 1:30 p.m.; Irish music by the Jolly Tinkers, sponsored by the Ancient Order of Hibernians, from 3 to 4:30 p.m.; Irish Step Dancing by the Fitzpatrick School of Irish Dance from 5 to 5:30 p.m.; and Celtic and Irish music by the John Bryne Band from 6 to 8 p.m.

The Celtic Heritage Foundation was founded in Bristol Borough in the summer of 1996. The organization was responsible for the erection of a monument commemorating the Celtic experience in America and celebrating all Celtic people throughout the world. The monument, which stands in Bristol Riverfront Park, was dedicated in October 1997 and more than 200 family names have been inscribed thereon.
