St. Mary Medical Center announces plans for multiple community events in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month

On Sept. 26, participants from St. Mary's Paint & Sip event at the Green Parrot in Newtown hold up their paintings. Proceeds from the event will benefit breast cancer initiatives at St. Mary.

MIDDLETOWN TOWNSHIP >> St. Mary Medical Center kicked off Breast Cancer Awareness Month on Sept. 26 with a “Paint & Sip” fundraiser at the Green Parrot in Newtown that raised $500 to benefit breast cancer initiatives at St. Mary.

Led by an artist from A Taste of Artistry, the first mobile paint party experience to serve the tri-state area, participants painted a field of flowers under a moonlit sky.

This month, St. Mary Medical Center will host several events at the hospital and throughout the community to raise funds and awareness for the cause.

- Designer Bag Bingo at the Green Parrot in Newtown on Monday, Oct. 17 begins at 7 p.m. Participants will play bingo for chances to win designer handbags. The cost is $30 to play five rounds. There will be a happy hour menu and drink specials. Doors open at 6 p.m. To register, call the Green Parrot at 215.504.7277.

- On Wednesday, Oct. 19 both McCaffrey’s Market locations in Newtown and Lower Makefield will host a St. Mary Cancer Day fundraiser. A percentage of the day’s sales will be donated to the St. Mary Cancer Center.

- On Monday, Oct. 24 St. Mary Cancer Center will host Ladies Night Out from 3 to 8 p.m. on the ground floor of the Outpatient Care Facility. Healthcare presentations on the prevention, detection and treatment of breast cancer will be given. In addition, vendors from the community will be in attendance, including Sycamore Salon, Premiere Jewelry, Thirty One, Arbonne and more. To register, please call 215.710.5341.

- The grand opening of the Bee Well Boutique will be held on the ground floor of the Outpatient Care Facility at St. Mary on Monday, October 24 starting at 4:30 p.m. The store will feature wigs, lotions, clothing and helpful items to soothe and help heal patients.

- St. Mary Night at the Green Parrot will be held Oct. 26 starting at 6 p.m. There will be a happy hour menu and drink specials available. Dr. Richard Kass, a cardiologist from St. Mary, will be performing music on the piano to provide entertainment for all. A portion of the night’s sales will be donated to St. Mary Cancer Center.
