The following information is provided by the Newtown Township Police Department:
FRAUD >> Shortly before 10:30 a.m. on Oct. 25 a resident of Newtown Township came to police headquarters to report a Verizon cell phone account was opened in Texas using his personal information without his permission. He stated he received a phone call from a collection agency stating he owes Verizon more than $1,000. The victim learned that the account had been opened in August and was now closed.
FRAUD >> Police were dispatched to a residence in Newtown Grant around 9:50 p.m. to take a report from a resident regarding fraudulent activity on his credit card. The victim said that the card was in his possession when he was notified of five unauthorized transactions. The card was canceled and a hold was placed on his account. He was advised by his financial institution to file a police report.
