The following information is provided by the Newtown Township Police Department:
FRAUD >> A resident of Newtown Township called police on Oct. 26 to report that she was a victim of credit card fraud. The credit card account was canceled by the victim.
THEFT FROM VEHICLE >> Police were dispatched to the Newtown Athletic Club around 7 p.m. on Oct. 26 for a report of a theft from a vehicle. The responding officer met with the victim who explained that he parked his vehicle in the lot around 6 p.m. and when he returned to the car he discovered that the lock on the driver's side door had been tampered with and his backpack was missing.
FRAUD >> At approximately 8:40 a.m. on Oct. 27 a resident called police to report that he had received a phone call with the caller identifying himself as a representative of the resident’s bank. The caller asked the resident several personal questions. The resident provided the information and then realized that it didn't seem right, so he called his bank and found out that the call was fraudulent. He notified the credit bureaus. As of this date and time, there were no fraudulent accounts opened.
