On December 14, 2012, 20 little children and 6 adults were murdered at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut.
Many of us were shocked and outraged that such an atrocity could happen in our country. We wanted to do something, but didn’t know what form that action should take. We were looking for political leadership, but got nothing except from one courageous leader, Steve Santarsiero, our State Representative.
Steve immediately organized a group to work towards gun safety and introduced a House Bill, which would require a comprehensive background check for all firearms sales. Since that time, Steve has been an active and consistent supporter of gun violence prevention.
Meanwhile, what was Marguerite Quinn doing? Nothing to support gun violence prevention, everything to support the NRA.
Recently, Quinn has attempted to promote herself as a gun violence prevention supporter, but her efforts have been nothing but a sham that does nothing to make our communities safer.
When I vote in November for state senator, it will be for Steve Santarsiero, a proven and reliable leader, not for “Marguerite come lately,” who attempted to jump on the gun safety band wagon only when it seemed politically expedient to do so.
