Truck Fire

Yardley-Makefield firefighters Amy Fisher (on the nozzle) and John Kingham knock down a fully-involved truck fire Monday afternoon, July 2 in the Timber Lakes development off of Lindenhurst Road in Lower Makefield. Volunteers used handlines to quickly quell the interno, which destroyed the landscape truck. The Newtown Emergency Services Department also responded to the scene.

YARDLEY >> For the week of June 25 to July 1, the all-volunteer Yardley-Makefield Fire Company responded to 13 calls.

June 27 >> Dispatched for burning electrical wires inside a home on Creamery Road, near Yardley-Newtown Road.

June 28 >> Dispatched for five calls. The first call was for burning electrical wires on a pole at the intersection of Big Oak Road and Acorn Drive. The second call was for a mutual aid assist to Newtown (Station 45), for Engine 80 to respond for a building fire at the Rothman Institute, on South Eagle Road. The third call was for an activated fire alarm at a home on North Bradford Road, in the Yardley Run development. The fourth call was for an activated fire alarm at a home on Saly Road, near Michael Road. The fifth call was for a dwelling fire on Cedar Hollow Drive, in the Makefield Glen development.

June 29 >> Dispatched for an activated fire alarm at a home on Clydesdale Circle, near Shetland Court.

June 30 >> Dispatched for three calls. The first call was for a mutual aid assist to Newtown (Station 45), for Engine 80 to respond for a fire at Pickering Manor Nursing Home, on North Lincoln Avenue. The second call was for an activated fire alarm at a home on Revere Road, in the Yardley Hunt development. The third call was for an activated fire alarm at Kinder Care, on Stony Hill Road.

July 1 >> Dispatched for three calls. The first call was for a special assignment to assist the squad with a patient on Dobry Road, off Oxford Valley Road. The second call was for an auto extrication on Interstate 295 (0ld I-95), where a car went out of control and wound up on the concrete lane divider, near the Yardley Newtown exit. The third call was for burning electrical wires inside a home in the Polo Run Apartment complex, on Yardley-Langhorne Road.

July 2 >> Dispatched for a vehicle fire on Timber Lakes Drive at 5:15 p.m. Using hose lines, firefighters quickly knocked down the inferno which destroyed a landscaping truck.
