YARDLEY BOROUGH >> The public is invited to join local and other officials, friends and family at the formal opening of Maura Rose Events at 40 S. Main St. (rear) in historic and vibrant downtown Yardley Borough on June 8 starting at Noon as part of 2nd Saturday Yardley.

Owner Maura Feeney, along with her sister and operations manager Erin Bogart and her other team members will be cutting the ribbon on their new location just after Noon and then welcoming all to stop in their studio for an open house through 2 p.m. with light refreshments and sweets.

During the open house they will have one of their designers demonstrate how to create a floral arrangement outside in front of the studio and will raffle the arrangement off at 1:30 p.m. to a lucky visitor. They are also planning to run a discount on their floral and design workshops all day on June 8.

“We are a full service wedding and event design studio. Our team of experienced floral designers has been styling weddings throughout PA and NJ for the past 7 years. Our mission is to stay a smaller design company that limits the number of weddings we carry out per year in order to give our clients a boutique experience so they experience the immersive nature that is floral design, rather than simply selecting images from a website or blog,” noted Maura.

At Maura Rose Floral & Event Design, the customer experience is crucial, but so is their focus on the community and the environment. “We strive to source our blooms as locally as possible during the growing season and we minimize our footprint by composting all of our floral materials at Snipes Farm," said Maura. “This year we also offer a floral re-purposing program to all our clients in which you can opt to donate your wedding florals to be re-used as bouquets to be delivered to area hospitals, shelters and homes.”

Maura grew up in Yardley and worked at her first job for Ye Olde Yardley Florist at the age of 15. When she started her business in Philadelphia seven years ago at the age of 26, it was always her goal to move her design studio back to Yardley Borough. “The small town feel, the friendliness of the neighbors and the explosion of new small businesses opening up is a perfect spot for creative businesses to thrive” she said. “Downtown Yardley is the perfect place to host clients from all over the region, helping us make a great first impression with them before they even enter our studio.”

Maura Rose Floral & Event Design has already begun hosting Wine + Design Nights since coming to town. The next open event (ticketed online) is Ferns & Tropicals: A Summer Bouquet Fun Workshop on June 6, followed by a Wildflowers & Cotton Workshop on July 9th. All events are BYOB, with materials, instruction, water and herbal teas provided.

“What a fantastic story: Local resident learns her trade at one of Yardley’s legacy businesses, later creates her own brand and business concept elsewhere in the region, has great success, and then comes ‘home’ to Yardley to live and have her business be part of growing that very same community,” remarked Jef Buehler, President of Experience Yardley. “Their offering of design classes on evenings just adds to mix of cool things you can experience in our one square mile of awesome.”
