YARDLEY BOROUGH >> Yardley’s Music on Main outdoor music and performance series is back for its fourth season bringing a diverse array of free live music, performance and culture to the heart of the Borough’s vibrant downtown.
This year the Experience Yardley volunteer team, with band sponsorship by Burritos Restaurant, is kicking off the event season early with Music on Main’s Cinco de Mayo Weekend.
On Saturday, May 4 Eco Del Sur will be playing their amazing blend of South American and other latin music for its third year as part of the free family-friendly entertainment.
Eco Del Sur, which means “Echoes of the South,” was founded in 2000 with the idea of preserving the heritage and culture of different Latin American regions. Its music includes a wide range of styles and rhythms influenced by the Pre-Columbian, Spanish and African cultural heritages.
The group is regionally known for its talent, incredible array of more than 20 instruments and engaging and informative shows. Music on Main attendees will recall their lively performances from previous years.
Due to the earlier onset of darkness in early May, the performance will take place from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The rain date for the event is May 11.
The Music on Main summer downtown series happens every Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. starting on June 1 featuring the following bands (in order of appearance): New Vintage Dixieland Band (New Jersey), Magdaliz and Her Latin Ensemble Crisol (Philadelphia), Ryan Tennis (Philadelphia), Conjunto Philadelphia (Philadelphia), Yardley-based, but nationally-acclaimed Peter V Blues Train, Amazin’ Grace (New Jersey), De Tierra Caliente (Philadelphia/Columbia), Raised By Wolves (Philadelphia), Trinidelphia (Philadelphia), Ja-Tun & Random Acts of Soul (Pennsylvania and New Jersey) and wrapping up the season with Tie Dye Hillbilly Dance Party (New Hope).
And on each 2nd Saturday Yardley, before or after the summer shows on June 8, July 15 and August 13, there will be a variety of cool things to experience in Yardley’s downtown at participating stores, restaurants, wellness businesses and organizations.
Music on Main is free and open to the public thanks to the robust support of the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts & Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance who awarded a fourth grant to support the performances, a grant from Visit Bucks County, amazing-looking signage and printing compliments of Ship and Print, and band sponsorships from the following local business in Yardley: Burritos Yardley, Firehouse Cycles, T. Foster & Company, The Pink Daisy, Yardley Ice House, Customers Bank, the Vault and Cramer Bakery.
Music on Main is a program of Experience Yardley, Yardley’s community and downtown enhancement and promotion non-profit. See www.experienceyardley.com for more information, the performance schedule and tips and tricks for having a great time at Music on Main in 2019.
