The cast of "Atlas Pit" will take its show on the road to the International Thespian Festival in 2019.

BRISTOL TOWNSHIP >> Truman High School Drama Director Tracey Gatte was recently notified that the cast of “Atlas Pit” will perform at the 2019 International Thespian Festival (ITF) in the Chapter Select Showcase. This year’s ITF will be held at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln in June. Participation in the Chapter Select Showcase is by invitation only and it is an honor received by only those troupes that represent the very best of high school theatre.

Each State Thespian Conference chapter has the option of sending one Thespian Olympics performance to the ITF. The Pennsylvania State Thespian Conference recently held the Thespian Olympics at North Penn High School. Truman students competed against high schools from across the state and presented the one act play Atlas Pit. The performance marked the world high school premier of the play that focuses on an 18 year old who is reeling from the loss of his girlfriend and trying to sort out relationships with family and friends.

Truman’s powerful performance earned the troupe the designation of “Chapter Select,” an honor reserved for outstanding productions, which secured a spot for Truman in the ITF Chapter Select Showcase. Truman will appear with other state Chapter Select troupes from around the country.

During the Pennsylvania State Thespian Conference, Truman senior Marcelino Collo and junior Grace Brady received special recognition for their performances in Atlas Pit.
