LOWER MAKEFIELD >> Lower Makefield is partnering with local comedian and writer, Marc Kaye, to launch the first “Burbs and Barbs” Comedy Show on March 23.

“We have had great feedback about the programs we have been able to bring to the community in the past year. As a way to broaden our approach and think of ways to continue to bring people together even more, we are excited to be building a professional comedy program locally featuring national talent. When Marc approached us with Lisa Gage, President, Hue Entertainment, we realized that this would be something that would be great fun for the community at large,” said Monica Tierney, the director of the township's Parks and Recreation Department headquartered at the LMT Community Center.

While the heyday of comedy clubs may seem long gone, resurgence locally has allowed for comics to spread their wings through the Internet but nothing provides the feel of a live audience.

“The NY-DC corridor has a tremendous amount of talent. The Internet, however, can’t mimic the environment of live comedy,” explains Kaye. “We are extremely excited to bring a wealth of talent to this area and partner with the township.”

The “Burbs and Barbs” Comedy show will take place on March 23 at 8 p.m. at the LMT Community Center, 1150 Oxford Valley Road, Yardley 19067. Tickets are $20. Registration is available online at register.communitypass.net/lowermakefield.

The show will be hosted by Kaye, a township resident and popular comedian, writer and producer. It will feature comedians who perform regularly in New York, Philadelphia and nationally. Jared Bilski, a veteran of stages throughout the Northeast and Las Vegas features. Tracy Locke, an award-winning comedian, writer, correspondent and host, including for the Harry Connick, Jr. show, will headline.
