June is Cataract Awareness Month. Early detection and treatment are critical to preserving eyesight, which is why The Birches at Newtown invites seniors for a free cataract vision screening on Tuesday, June 11 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.


Dr. Shana Barrett Zeitlin, the medical director of HomeSight Eye Care, will be at The Birches performing free cataract vision screenings. Dr. Zeitlin is a graduate of the Pennsylvania College of Optometry and she is licensed in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey to the highest therapeutic level. She has extensive experience in the field of ocular disease, including the diagnosis of macular degeneration and visually significant cataracts, and the treatment of multiple types of glaucoma. She is also a current member of the American Academy of Home Care Medicine, American Optometric Association and the Pennsylvania Optometric Association.
