CROSS COUNTRY: Hopewell Valley girls earn runner-up trophy
Last Saturday at Holmdel Park, Hopewell Valley head coach Aaron Oldfield’s Mercer County champion Hopewell Valley girls came in second to Voorhees for the second straight year—this time by an 85-157 margin, with Princeton placing fourth at 168.
“I’m ecstatic for our girls,” said Oldfield, who had senior Julie Jablonski run sixth at 19:13. HoVal had two juniors and two freshman running in their first Group III States meet, with freshman Casey Quinto leading them in 17th place at 20:14.
Jenna Cody led Princeton by taking 10th at 19:47. Steinert’s Christa Strycharz was 13th in 20:02 and earned a “wild card” invite to this week’s Meet of Champs.
“Once again it was another great day for the CVC,” noted Oldfield. “County runners had another great day running here.”
WW-P North’s girls were fourth as Emily Scott ran 19:00.20.
On the boys side, the Bulldog men placed seventh in Saturday’s event.
