Tom Cino and John Silvers, both Republicans, have won in the race for two six-year terms on the Upper Makefield Township Board of Supervisors. The Democrat, Mark Woods, received the lowest votes.
Cino tallied 1,030 votes, or 46 percent of the vote, while Silvers garnered 862 votes, or 38.5 percent of the vote. Wood took 345 votes, or 15.4 percent of the vote.
After the election, Cino said, “It feels good to know that the residents support me, support the work I’ve done and recognize I’m committed to represent them.
“From conversations I’ve had, the key issue is “people were looking for representation and someone to take care of our township. That seems to be the common thread they were looking for.”
As for goals and priorities, Cino said “keeping in tune with what everyone wants” tops his list. “I want to represent the best interests of the residents.”
Both Silvers and Cino attended the Nov. 4 board or supervisors meeting.
“I feel great -- I feel excited about serving our residents,” said Silvers.
About key issues, Silvers said, “I think we saw tonight -- the budget and keeping taxes as low as possible while maintaining quality services for our residents. “One of the top priorities is to review our professional services contracts -- legal representation and engineering support; making sure we are getting value for the services provided.”
