Driving past Council Rock South High School last Saturday, you might think it was just another day. Dozens of students gathered on the overcast morning to practice tennis and softball, while still more were hoping to get one more crack at the SATs before the end of the school year.But it was a different story on the first floor of the Northampton Township school, as hundreds of volunteers scurried to assemble over 4,000 care packages for the troops serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.

An Upper Makefield man waived his right to a preliminary hearing Monday after holding township police and a Bucks County SWAT team at bay for more than three hours following an April 9 domestic dispute.Edward Snyder, 50, of Upper Makefield, is charged with two counts of aggravated assault, terroristic threats, simple assault and recklessly endangering the welfare of another in connection with the April 9 police standoff.
